What Should a Small Business Website Actually Cost in India?

One of the most common questions we get is some version of "how much should this cost?" - and it's a fair question, because website pricing in India ranges from a few thousand rupees to lakhs, with no obvious way to tell what you're actually paying for at each level.
At the lower end (roughly ₹10,000 and up), you're typically getting a straightforward informational site - a handful of pages, mobile-friendly design, a working contact form, and basic on-page SEO so the site is at least findable. This is the right fit if your main goal is simply to exist online with a credible, professional presence - a digital version of a visiting card that customers can find and trust.
In the mid-range (roughly ₹30,000 and up), the site usually starts doing real work - things like booking systems, product catalogs, or basic order management, not just describing your business but letting customers actually take action on it. This is where a website stops being a brochure and starts being a sales channel.
Higher up (₹50,000 and beyond), you're generally paying for custom functionality built around your specific business - things a template genuinely can't do, deeper integrations, and ongoing priority support after launch. This tier makes sense once your business has specific operational needs a generic site can't handle.
A few things worth checking in any quote, regardless of price: is GST included or added on top? How many rounds of revisions are included? Do you own the code and content once it's delivered, or does it stay tied to the developer? What happens after launch if something breaks?
The cheapest quote isn't automatically the best value, and the most expensive one isn't automatically the most capable - what matters is whether the plan actually matches what your business needs the site to do. A single-page visiting-card site and a booking-and-payments platform are different products, even if they're both called "a website."
